Zoology
Multidimensional study of animals called Zoology includes the knowledge of living beings and their genetic, morphological and physiological attributes.
Zoology is a combination of various disciplines such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, toxicology, Genetics, Physiology, Ecology, Developmental Biology,, Fisheries, and Wildlife etc. The Postgraduate Department of Zoology was established in 2004 and holds a critical position in the Faculty of Sciences of the College. The Department right from its beginning has been teaching at B.Sc and M.Sc levels and now regular classes of BS-Zoology (4 Year) have been successfully launched since 2016. Nearly 12 Batches of M.Sc Zoology have been awarded their M.Sc Degrees by University of the Punjab, Lahore and more than 60 students have completed their M.Sc degree along with research work (Research Thesis) offered to them by the department. Many students of the department have become successful professional like Ph.Ds, Lecturers in Public Sector Colleges and Universities, SS and Educators in School Education and Forensic Scientists etc. Department of Zoology has a vision to teach this worthy subject to our youth in such a way that enables the young students to understand principles of organization and interrelation in the biological systems, which are important for better research, planning and management of animal resources, environment, health and medicine, agriculture, and population in the country. To raise the Department as a learning place including all important components of zoology like Entomology, Parasitology, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology, Endocrinology, Genetic engineering, Fisheries and aquaculture, Vertebrate pest control, Ecological Museum & Animal House. All the members of Department of Zoology have are greatly ambitious to create an environment that enables teaching and research to attain high levels of excellence and to produce innovative graduates and postgraduates in areas of Zoology including Entomology, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology and Parasitology that contributes to the development for national and international scenarios.
